GWL presented three reports at the scientific conference and workshop “Seismic technologies-2017”
18-19 April 2017

GWL participated in the annual scientific conference and workshop “Seismic technologies-2017”. The main task of this forum is to discuss the most urgent problems of seismic survey industry in the form of direct dialogue, involving the representatives of the petroleum companies, seismic surveying specialists and scientists.

During the conference Alexander Nikitin, Head of GWL’s R&D Department, presented a report, titled “Seismic complex for recording refracted wave satlong and extra-long ranges”, in which he outlined the prospective of developing FloatSeis™ technology, combining the advantages of CDP and DSS and its prominence for solving practical and scientific tasks.

Sergey Pokrovskiy, Head of processing department, spoke on the peculiarities and advantages of using DSS method for updating a velocity model; while Evgeny Grigoriev, GWL employee and at the same time a St.Petersburg State University post-grad, used a practical case of East-Black-Sea depression to demonstrate the advantage of a complex approach for updating the composition of the Earth crust foundation model.

The conference has become an excellent forum for discussing a wide range of questions – from tools and technologies for field operations to final interpretation of the acquired data. GWL would like to thank the hosts of the conference – Seismic Data Analysis Center of the Moscow State University (MSU) named after M.V.Lomonosov; the Institute of the Earth physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences named after O.Yu.Schmidt, “Petro model” company, scientific and educational center “Moscow State University Center for Oil and Gas” and Moscow branch of the Euro-Asian Geophysical Society – for an opportunity to have a productive discussion with the world’s leading scientists and industry experts of seismic surveying.
